About the Artist…
I grew up around the beautiful Malvern Hills and Cotswold countryside, so I’ve always been surrounded and inspired by the beauty of the natural world.
And later, after a move to Mid-Devon, I happily find myself inspired by the amazing supply of nature and wildlife subjects, for me to study, draw and paint....right on my cottage door step.
Most days, you will usually find me, in my little cottage, drawing and designing new idea’s for my paintings.
On fine, and sunny days, my favourite thing is to walk along the country lanes, and woodland paths near me, making sketches and mental notes of…all the wildflowers and animals around the hedgerows and try and seek out the elusive red fox, that often dashes out across my path!
When I get back home, all the sketches and notes, will offer me the perfect ingredients for some new paintings..
I’m no purist and regularly use other mediums in my work, depending on the subject. Watercolour has a wonderful fluidity and a magical quality, that it displays itself on paper.
I love to capture the beauty within a subject, that lies between the realistic and imagination, by painting and designing in my own ‘naturalistic realism’ style, and draw on my love of the beautiful period of Renaissance art…..by adding, enriching and illuminating my artwork.
